Overview

What Industrial Asphalt Services Really Involves

Industrial pavement isn't a scaled-up commercial parking lot. Truck yards, distribution centers, manufacturing loading pads and heavy-load access roads carry stresses that eat lightly-spec'd asphalt for breakfast: 80,000-pound tractor-trailers turning at low speeds, container jockeys hitting the same square yard every day, forklift wheel loads concentrated on tiny contact patches, and constant fuel and hydraulic-fluid contamination. Every one of those loads calls for base and mix that's actually engineered for it.

Our industrial specs typically call for 6"–8"+ of graded aggregate base over a compacted, drainage-verified sub-grade — often with woven geotextile fabric to separate base from clay in Middle Georgia. Total asphalt depth is 4"–8"+, placed in a binder-and-surface course structure with heavy-duty mixes designed for truck loads (higher binder content, larger nominal aggregate size where appropriate). Compaction targets are strict. This is the layer cake that lasts.

Truck-turning zones and dock aprons deserve special attention. Point loading and slow turning tear top course out of standard mixes; we spec heavy-duty surface courses (or concrete in the most extreme locations) at docks and turning circles. Fuel-contaminated areas get petroleum-resistant sealer and periodic overlay planning.

Construction phasing keeps sites operating. Overnight paving, weekend paving, and half-yard phasing let distribution centers stay open through resurface projects. We coordinate directly with shipping managers, security and maintenance teams to keep the schedule realistic and the operation moving.

Middle Georgia Context

Our home base is Milner, GA in Lamar County, and our service area covers Middle Georgia and the South Metro Atlanta corridor — roughly Griffin and McDonough to the north, Newnan and Peachtree City to the west, Macon and Warner Robins to the south, and Covington to the east. We hold the same standards on every job and coordinate permits with municipal offices when required by scope.

Our Process

How We Deliver Industrial Asphalt Services

  1. 01

    Load & Operations Study

We understand truck traffic volumes, dock cycle times, forklift routes, and 24/7 operational constraints before scoping the pavement.

  2. 02

    Base & Mix Design

Engineered base depth (6"–8"+), fabric where soils call for it, and heavy-duty mix specifications sized to the actual loads — not to generic minimums.

  3. 03

    Phasing Plan

Half-yard phasing, overnight and weekend work, and coordination with shipping and security so operations never fully stop.

  4. 04

    Deep Base Construction

Sub-grade prep, fabric placement, base delivery and compaction, and compaction verification before any asphalt is placed.

  5. 05

    Heavy-Duty Paving

Binder and surface courses placed in appropriate lifts, compacted to density targets, with dock aprons and turning zones spec'd separately where needed.

  6. 06

    Reopen Coordination

Cure and reopen schedule coordinated with operations so trucks are back on the fresh mat only after the mat can take them.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Industrial Asphalt Services

How thick should industrial asphalt be?

Truck yards and distribution centers typically call for 4"–8" of total asphalt (binder plus surface) over 6"–8"+ of GAB base. Heavy-load zones (dock aprons, turning circles) may spec deeper or convert to concrete.

Can you work around 24/7 operations?

Yes. Half-yard phasing, overnight and weekend paving, and direct coordination with shipping and security keep operations moving through the project.

What about fuel and hydraulic contamination?

Petroleum-resistant sealer (fuel-resistant sealcoat) is applied in contamination-prone areas. Contaminated sections may need removal and replacement rather than sealer alone.

Concrete vs. asphalt for dock aprons?

For high-load, slow-turn zones — such as dock aprons taking daily container loads — concrete may be the appropriate material. We can quote both and recommend based on load profile.

How long does industrial asphalt take to cure enough for trucks?

New asphalt takes 24–48 hours for standard traffic. For loaded truck traffic on hot days, we recommend 72 hours or longer, especially on new binder-and-surface installs.

Do you have industrial references?

Yes — distribution centers, manufacturing sites, and industrial parks across Middle Georgia. References available on the site walk.

Owner's Guide

Maintenance Tips For Industrial Asphalt Services

  • Sealcoat truck yards every 2 years, not 3 — heavy truck traffic and fuel contamination shorten the sealcoat cycle.
  • Address dock apron cracking immediately — it spreads under container loads faster than any other failure mode.
  • Photograph fuel-island and dock-apron areas quarterly; trend visibility is critical for capital planning.
  • Fix drainage failures around fuel islands first — pooling fuel-contaminated water destroys base fast.
  • Consider concrete replacements at chronic-failure dock aprons rather than repeat asphalt patches.
