Quality Paving does structural asphalt repair: saw-cut perimeter, remove failed material to sound base, treat and re-compact the base if it's the cause, then place and compact fresh hot-mix asphalt flush with the surrounding surface. That's the difference between a repair built for normal use and one that pops out with the next rain.
The most common repair scopes we quote are: potholes (removal-and-replace, not filled with cold patch), alligator-cracked sections (saw-cut and patch to sound perimeter, typically indicating base failure that also needs addressing), utility-cut restoration (settled patches where a water or fiber contractor dug and back-filled poorly), edge failures at pavement-to-curb joints, and settled areas around manhole rings and catch basins.
Base repair is the make-or-break step. If a pothole opened because water saturated the sub-grade, patching the top course alone may not address the underlying issue. Where we find failed base — soft, pumping, or saturated aggregate — we excavate to solid material, add stone base, compact using appropriate equipment and methods, and only then place asphalt over the top.
For deep repairs and utility-cut restoration we place binder course first, then top with a surface course to grade. For small potholes and skin patches we place a single surface-course lift. Every patch is compacted with a roller or plate compactor (not tamped with a shovel) to hit density targets. Every patch gets a tack-coat perimeter to bond the new asphalt to the existing pavement so the joint doesn't fail.
