Bollards and signage are the two silent compliance failures on most Middle Georgia commercial lots. Storefronts without bollard protection catch vehicles that go the wrong way at drive-thrus. R7-8 accessible signs mounted too low, missing van-accessible plaques, faded stop signs and missing fire lane signage are the exact deficiencies that show up in ADA and fire-code enforcement. Both scopes are inexpensive to fix — and both get more expensive when a lawsuit or a fire inspector arrives first.
For bollards, our standard install is a 4"–6" schedule-40 or schedule-80 steel pipe, concrete-filled, set 3'–4' deep in a 12"–18" diameter footing, projecting 36"–42" above finished grade at 4'–5' spacing on center. That configuration stops the low-speed accidental impacts that account for the majority of storefront strikes. For federal buildings, fuel canopies and other high-risk locations we install ram-rated engineered bollards to K4/K8/K12 or ASTM M30/M50/M60 spec — installed to the manufacturer's engineered footing detail.
For signage, we install MUTCD-standard aluminum signs with high-intensity or diamond-grade reflective sheeting (not the engineering-grade panels sold at big-box stores, which fade within a couple of years). R7-8 accessible parking signs go up with Georgia-specific fine text at the required 60"-minimum bottom-of-sign height. R7-8P van-accessible plaques go below R7-8 at every van space. Fire lane signage follows the local fire marshal's placement and text spacing. Stop signs, one-way, no-parking, reserved and custom tenant signs all install with tamper-resistant hardware on 2"–3" galvanized steel or 4x4 pressure-treated posts set in concrete footings sized for local wind loads.
